Blog Entry: A man is being prosecuted for publishing a blog detailing the sexual abuse, mutilation and murder of pop band Girls Aloud. Darryn Walker, 35, was arrested by Scotland Yard's Obscene Publications Unit for posting the 12 page blog on a fantasy porn website. Walker will appear in front of a judge, standing accused of breaching the 1959 Obscene Publications Act. It will be the first test of the act since pornographic material became widely available on the net, and is one of the first cases enacted upon written text in recent years. The blog, entitled 'Girls (Scream) Aloud', was described on the website as "the very sexy deaths of all five members of the world's sexiest all-girl group". It depicts his fantasy of kidnapping and abusing the girls, mutilating their bodies and auctioning their dismembered body parts on eBay. According to The People, Walker has admitted writing the story, but denied intending to cause offence to the girls or causing them to feel threatened. "Yes, I did write the stuff about Girls Aloud and I'm sorry if I caused offence or worry - it wasn't what I intended. What I wrote was just a fantasy thing. It was harmless," he is quoted as saying in the paper. "I'm not a fan of theirs at all so there's no real reason I picked them - I just did. I've written other articles along the same lines which are not about Girls Aloud or celebrities and which I've not been charged over. But I'm not prepared to go into why I write them." Walker has already appeared before South Tyneside Magistrates, where he entered no plea and was granted unconditional bail. He is due to appear before a judge at Newcastle Crown Court later this month.
